Technology Consultant

In this role, you will provide value in some form to every business contact by asking questions when necessary, mostly listening and then recommending solutions that are best suited for their technology needs.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with the company’s current offerings, the problems they solve and the benefits they provide
    • Identify prospective clients through multiple means including but not limited to:
      • Business and social networking
      • Online research
      • Marketing strategies
      • Always listening
    • Establish connections with prospects by reaching out, setting up meetings, listening to needs and in some cases identifying needs not already known
    • Advise prospective clients on when and how to use best known solutions relating to their business technology needs whether a current offering or not
    • Identify when advised solutions align with current company offerings
      • When appropriate, provide solution proposals (templates available)
      • Provide project estimates and quotes (quoting tool available)
      • Provide service pricing and quotes (existing service pricing established)
    • Identify when a solution that is not a current offering can be a current offering and communicate to the team
      • Research the company’s eligibility for the solution vendors partner program
      • For each instance, determine if internal “value-adds” plus a solution vendor’s partner program can equal a new service offering opportunity
    • Follow-up with prospective clients that have received estimates, solution proposals, quotes or service pricing to find out if there is interest
    • Regularly follow-up with existing clients
      • Determine if needs are being met and advise solutions for any unmet needs
    • Analyze competitive market offerings and pricing
      • Communicate identified changes in competitive offerings
      • Strategize with the team new value-adds for competitive edge
    • On occasion, the delivery, installation or retrieval of equipment will be necessary

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or relevant training and certifications. Two plus years of professional work experience. Ability to read, interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, prospects or employees. Physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. There will be an occasional need to lift and carry equipment up to 40 pounds in weight. There will be local travel within Indianapolis and surrounding areas on a regular basis.
